The Teacher

Veteran teacher Josephine G Payge who is also the owner and director of the studio provides personally designed classes for each client. She began her career in the fitness world in 1984 when she learned the art of bodybuilding with fitness expert Jim Clough at his gym in Covent Garden. With this new skill she worked, at what is now known as the Marlow Club, for several years as a gym instructor and a personal trainer. A few years later she became a member of the Royal Society of the Arts when she gained her certification in Exercise to Music. During the latter part of the 1980s, together with a colleague she created her own physical training classes, Body Logic, which she taught for several years in the local area. Her education in the Pilates Method took place during 1994/95 with teachers who went on to create the Pilates Foundation UK Ltd. Her style of learning was in the teacher/apprentice model which was the only way to be tutored in those days, before the plethora of Pilates schools and books which exist today. Because she was taught the method this way her lineage is very close to Joseph Pilates himself. After opening her own Pilates studio in Bourne End in 1999 she began providing GyrotonicŪ in 2000 having completed her training to level two with the founder and creator Juliu Horvath at the Rheintalklink in Germany.

Along with her skills in teaching movement she is also a long time meditation enthusiast, has practiced Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Iyenger Yoga and has level two attunement in Reiki healing. She has been involved in the mind body spirit arena for the past 35 years, and follows a nature based spiritual path, the indigenous religion of these isles, which keeps her focused and connected. And she is also a very proud grandmother of three beautiful girls!

"Pilates is designed to give you suppleness, natural grace and skill that will be unmistakably reflected in the way you walk, in the way you play and in the way you work."
